The Colonial Viper could not stay alone in the interstellar space.
So here is the Cylon Raider UCS, scaled to fit the Colonial Viper.
The model is made of 3253 genuine LEGO parts, for a total length of 66,5cm (83,1 studs) and a width of 45,0cm (56,3studs).
Custom lighting provided by Brickstuff (www.brickstuff.com/) and UCS sticker by Ultimate Collector Stickers (www.ultimatecollectorstickers.co.uk/).
Instructions are available starting Feb. 2nd 2018 (326 pages pdf, with fully detailed step-by-step instructions).

Last year I posted two Cylon Raider images, an original and the alternate. Same ships, different clouds. Well, there was also a third version.
Unlike with the first two images, I wasn't happy with how the three Raiders worked with this one. Something about the clouds messed with the three ship layout and I shelved it. I looked it again and simply got rid of the third Raider. Now it works I think. Such a recognizable silhouette.

Another photo from the huge abandoned gas factory. Fantastic location, I could spend a whole week there :)
Walking home after work, until just a few weeks ago, meant walking through a dark night. I was happy to realize it finally isn't so!
So I went home and kept looking up: here's a Cylon Raider-shaped building, not far from Zagreb's main bus terminal. Actually, it is called Grand Center, and it's a stylish, eight-storey-high office building that was built in 2006.

There were a lot of creative Jack O Lanterns made in Kevin's garage and this isn't even half of them. I would have liked to have gotten a pick of all of them together.
My second attempt on the classic Cylon Raider from Battlestar Galactica. Building time was about three days and with all minor changes here and there it was about two weeks.

Variations of a photograph. I sometimes do more than one version of an image when trying to figure out what works. With this particular one I think it ended up a tie.
This, of course, is the Cylon Raider from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica tv-series. It's an old model, an original Monogram issue, I built it quite young and it's probably best photographed from a distance to keep the illusion intact. It has been in a cardboard box for decades, never really photographed it properly.
I tried to capture the filght dynamics of that thing, they had a very distinct character in flight. Also the engine glow was really bright, but since this is an old model and no electronics built in, I had to Photoshop the glow in. I never do that but for this I thought an exception was justified.

Having this power on the local out of CF Yard prompted me to make the short run over to Cylon to catch them on the west end of their turn. The little GE crosses over County Road S overpass. The trucks on these B-B GEs always looked undersized to me when shot from this angle. January 23, 2006.
Off schedule road trains are the prize on this line when they happen. Unfortunately, I'm usually on a schedule of my own when the train is off schedule. So it was a minor event when L516 passed early on a weekend day when I didn't have anything pressing that prevented giving chase. I headed out fully prepared to go the distance (Owen, WI). Murphy's Law being what it is they pulled up to a stop at Cylon right about the time I caught up with them, proceeded to tie down the train, go off duty and board a cab. I had never photographed a train here but that was cold comfort.
I was deflated and made the short trip home. What I didn't know at that moment, is the recrew was probably already on the way. I saw a report of L516 headed east not long after getting home. More agony, what to do now? Do I get back in the car, drive the hour+ to Chippewa Falls where I should be able to catch up to them, if they have work, or call it no joy. Ultimately, I did the responsible if boring thing of tackling other responsibilities in and around home. It did bug me to have this opportunity slip through my fingers. Cylon, WI, December 21, 2024.
